Biography

When you hear David Kroll sing, the first thought that enters
your mind is how unique his voice is. The Iowa native has an effortless
delivery and a mature tone that is instantly endearing. You won’t
hear any forced emotion or self-consciousness from the twenty-one
year-old singer/songwriter, just a deep seeded passion that comes
from a lifelong love of music.
Piano and classical guitar lessons as a child set Kroll on a
musical pilgrimage that continues to this day. By the time he
was thirteen, the budding performer had developed a love for country
music. Traditionalists like Alan Jackson and George Strait caught
the young singer’s ear and helped ignite a burning desire
to perform. "I can remember attending an Alan Jackson concert
and wanting to be up there so bad," Kroll says.
After graduating in 2004, and after developing his chops playing
in local bands, Kroll set his sights on Belmont University in
Nashville. A season of reflection and honest evaluation, however,
concluded with the singer changing his mind about Belmont (where
he was already accepted as a student). "As the time got closer,
I realized that school wasn’t really for me," Kroll
says.
Fast forward nearly three years, and Kroll has taken giant steps
toward becoming a nationally recognized performer. Weekly gigs
with his band and frequent trips to Nashville have opened numerous
doors for the young singer. He’s had the opportunity to
play on the same bill with the likes of Montgomery Gentry and
Trick Pony, and has performed in front of thousands of fans on
his own. A chance meeting with Grammy nominated songwriter and
country performer Billy Yates lead to a deal
with Yates’ Smokin’ Grapes Music Publishing.
Kroll recently hit the studio (with Yates in the producer’s
chair) to record four songs to shop around to the record labels
in Nashville. One listen to the rootsy "Watching
The Corn Grow," a heartfelt homage to Iowa, or the
emotionally charged "Never Not In Love With You,"
a love song that doesn’t rely on sappy cliches, should be
enough to convince folks that Kroll has the goods. If those two
tracks don’t do it, though, the poignant "I’d
Be Lost" and the haunting "When I Was
Cheating On You" should seal the deal. Have

With wholesome good looks and a voice and sound contemporary
and distinct enough to capture the attention of a fickle public,
David Kroll is on the fast track to stardom. For this young singer/songwriter
who missed his share of highschool dances and parties because
he was out gigging with his band, music isn’t just a hobby,
it’s a way of life.
